The Crownobles Abroad

We bought a car!

So I realize it's been a while since our last update. We've been pretty busy recently, but I'm going to try to get into more regular updates again soon. Rachel's been keeping buys with language learning and helping out at the clinic. Adam's been keeping busy with freelance work, which is a huge answer to prayer! Also, this week we renewed our visas, we started the process of getting the girls into a missionary kids school here and we also bought a car!

I'll post some details on the school and the visas later, but for now I thought I'd post of few photos of our new car we picked up today.

After visiting the ATM every day for a week (that's our only method of getting money from the states for now), we were able to withdraw enough to buy a 1998 Toyota Revo. It's a bit old but has been taken care of and is still in pretty good shape. Cars are expensive here, but also keep their resale value well, so we should be able to sell it for a good price when we leave the Philippines.
So we're very happy that we won't have to be taking taxis everywhere anymore which should save us a good amount of money in the long run.

Apparently it has an AMD processor ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Walking around Davao

For a city where so many people don't have cars, getting around on foot in Davao can be a real mixed bag. Sometimes you have nice sidewalks. Sometimes there are no sidewalks and you're walking in the streets. Sometimes there are very narrow sidewalks. And sometimes the sidewalks are just filled with junk.

There's a sidewalk under there somewhere

Learning Visayan Around the House

We've been working on learning Visayan (or Cebuano) recently. If you were to come visit our place you'd see these notes on tables, chairs, light switches and so many other places. It's a great way to learn the names of things though.

Newsletter Signups

There's a lot that we do here that we can't talk about on Facebook or on the public internet at all. So we're putting together a quarterly newsletter where we can keep people more up-to-date with all of the details of what we're doing here.

If you'd like to receive the newsletter, just sign up on our Newsletter page or visit the Newsletter Signup tab on our Facebook Page.

Also, if you know anybody that's not on Facebook or checking this site but would like to get updates from us, please let them know.
