Missions Midwifery Video

The oranization we're going to the Philippines with has made some videos about midwifery as a ministry that really do a good job of explaining the role and potential of a christian missionary midwife.

Last Night in the States

So tonight is our last night in the States. We'll be flying out from LAX at 1am tonight! Thanks to everyone who prayed and gave so that we could get to this point. Our next update will be from China, where we're visiting some friends on our way to the Philippines.

We're Moving to the Philippines!

As much as we love life here in California, we're even more in excited with some big changes coming our way. As many of you know, we've had our eyes on the mission field for years, and now the opportunity has finally arrived. We are moving to the Philippines!

The Area

We will be living and working in and around Davao City, on the island of Mindanao, in the southern part of the Philippines.

The Plans

When we arrive in the Philippines, the first 4 months will be devoted to language learning and cultural immersion. Once autumn begins (mid-September), we will be working closely with an organization called Newlife ministries, who help out in many areas, some of which include church planting projects, community development, and youth programs. Most of our business, however, will be helping out in a local charity based maternity clinic which provides prenatal, midwifery, and postpartum care to almost 20,000 patients a year. We are really looking forward to being able to help serve families that are living in poverty and cannot otherwise afford quality health care.

The Timetable

At this point we've been accepted, and language school starts June 15th. This means that we must leave the U.S. and arrive in the Philippines no later than the middle of May (within a few short months). We want to be able to find a place to live, set up a home, and get somewhat adjusted before jumping into ministry. So we are packing, selling our home, cars, and furniture, and waiting for our visa approvals.

The Funds

The initial cost of moving our family of five (passports, visas, airfare, vehicles, housing, etc.) is estimated to be around $60,000. We will also need monthly support, the amount of which will depend on whether Adam is able to find telecommuting work while there.

Your Response
