The Crownobles Abroad

Credit cards can be complicated in the Philippines

You get used to credit cards being the quick and easy way to pay in the States. But it isn't so quick or easy in the Philippines. Every transaction seems to involve long waits and multiple receipts. On top of that they always seem to need a specific sort of credit card machine depending on what kind of card you have, I guess.

A recent store I went to had EIGHT different credit card machines. I took a photo just so people would believe me.

Jeepneys

There are lots of different ways to get around in the Philippines. Probably the most common way is what are called jeepneys. Jeepneys are a bit hard to explain, so here's a picture.

They are not very tall or very wide, so it's a pretty tight fit in back. Especially when you're an american who is larger than the average Filipino. Add to that the fact that they will cram up to 18 people in one, and you'll see why in Asia they have a different definition of personal space.

But no matter how far you're going, a ride will set you back just $0.17. So you can't beat the price.

Thank you for praying

I wanted to send out a quick thank you to everybody who prayed for me to be able to find programming work. For a long time I had only one client. I wasn't able to fill my schedule and I worried about losing that client.

Now, just about a week ago I got two new clients within hours of each other. All three of my clients look promising for ongoing work and we are feeling much better about being able to make ends meet here.

Thank you so much for your prayers. We feel truly blessed and we thank God for providing for us abundantly at every turn.
