Jeepneys

There are lots of different ways to get around in the Philippines. Probably the most common way is what are called jeepneys. Jeepneys are a bit hard to explain, so here's a picture.

They are not very tall or very wide, so it's a pretty tight fit in back. Especially when you're an american who is larger than the average Filipino. Add to that the fact that they will cram up to 18 people in one, and you'll see why in Asia they have a different definition of personal space.

But no matter how far you're going, a ride will set you back just $0.17. So you can't beat the price.
